A Visa is Required to Travel to Ethiopia for Business

Passport

  1. Submit your original United States Passport. You must submit your actual passport, (not a copy) as your visa will be issued within the pages of your passportbook.
  2. Your passport must be signed. Do not worry about the safety of your passport; our company has never lost a passport in 34 years and we take great care to make sure it is handled with the utmost of care.
  3. Your passport must have at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry into this country.
  4. You must have at least 2 adjacent blank visa pages (you cannot count the four in the very back of your passport as these pages are reserved for governmental use. RJR can assist you with renewing your current passport.

Photographs

  1. Submit 1 recently taken passport photo
  2. Passport Photo MUST have a completley blank white background, without any other shades or tints (i.e. dark gray, tan, off-white)
  3. If submitting more than one picture, be sure the others are a replication of the first one and not different types of pictures. DO NOT submit pictures with eyeglasses or sunglasses, jewelry, and headware as they will not be accepted. For a complete list of photo requirements and restrictions, click here.

Include with your application proof of round trip tickets for your trip with your name on the confirmation

OR

If your trip has been booked by a travel agent, include a signed letter on the agent's company letterhead with information regarding your trip and confirmations

Include a clear color copy of your dirvers liscense

OR

Provide one most recent utility bill with your name and home address

Include a copy of the most recent bank statement with your name and address included on the statement.

NOTE: For your personal privacy and security, please black out any account numbers found on your statement.

Include and original letter from your company that is signed by an office other than yourself regarding the purpose of your trip, as well as your passport number, issue date, expiration, and name as it appears on the passport.

The Ethiopian Embassy in DC as of April 01, 2016 no longer allows visa services to process visas for all applicants. The LA and NYC Consulates have no such restriction. Notes about Ethiopia Business Visa
New Requirement Effective April 2015 Pre-Approval Notice You must obtain pre-approval in order to travel to Ethiopia on business. Your host or sponsor must contact the Ethiopian Department of Immigration or the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on your behalf. They must request that this pre-approval be sent to the Ethiopian Consulate in Los Angeles. Copy of Visa Pre-Approval You must provide a copy of your visa pre-approval from the Department of Immigration in Ethiopia. Your visa cannot be processed without an original approval sent directly to the consulate and a copy of the approval included in with your visa application. Your Visa Pre-Approval notice will contain a two letter visa category code, the code will determine the visa type, validity and fee you will be issued.
